RECEPTION FOR SNOWSHOEING
pt_station3
For beginners in snowshoeing (1) the Club Espace Trappeur (2) has set up 20 km of waymarked trails to the North and the East of the resort. These are not snowplough- rolled pistes, and are open access at your own risk and on your own responsibility. All the circuits are linked to one another, so that you can move safely in an area specially adapted for snowshoeing without worrying about coming up against other users. The top of the Croix de Verse with its amazing panorama of sea and mountain forms the peak of these circuits.

Watch out on the sectors Plain des Baumettes-Jerusalem and Cote 1540, where there is a risk of getting lost in periods of poor visibility (mist, snowstorm), so take care.
On the subject of rules of conduct, be aware that this relatively small area of the mountain is heavily used by different types of skiers (Alpine and Cross-Country, Surfers, Hikers) so that areas specific to each of these users are delimited.
In addition, notice that on the Paeonies circuit there is an area of Protection of Wildlife which means that it is essential to stay on the marked trail, otherwise you risk prosecution under the laws protecting wild species.

Free leaflets available: Maison du Fonder, ESF, Lift cashdesks, and in certain shops and restaurants.

(1) Beginner, because in fact the CHEIRON is not a speciality area for snowshoeing. This small mountain area is in fact too small to support all those taking part in this growing activity without problems. This means that there is an increase in thoughtless and even criminal activities which defy all the regulations in place.

However, certain restraints have become necessary in order to best manage all the various sports practised here.
The idea is to permit the relatively small proportion of people taking up this new activity to do it under the requisite conditions of comfort and security. Those who gain in confidence will be able to make for the peaks and valleys nearer to the Alpine frontiers, which themselves are free of any constraints and make for unforgettable showshoeing trips. Nevertheless, it must be emphasized that it is always best to start off an activity with a professional.
The snowshoe is a device which, although impressive at first, gives entry to a thrilling environment where you can get carried away and quickly get into danger if basic safety measures are not taken.

So, snowshoers, for everyone’s sake, observe the absolute prohibition of entry to the ski slopes!

There are frequent inspections, and infringment of the rules will be prosecuted.

DIVERSION OF THE G R 4

RESORT OF GREOLIERES LES NEIGES

Information on the  DIVERSION OF THE G R 4

WARNING!
This diversion does not form a snowshoeing trail as such, it is a temporary modification of the GR4 which is possible on snowshoes, and which can be done as a two-way trail, as long as you are not aiming to reach the actual village of Greolieres. You should in no case go on to the cross-country area when at the southernmost point

With the aim of providing a rational solution to the lack of space in the mountain region, and so as to widen the field of each separate activity while avoiding damage to the snow cover on the ski slopes, the Commune of Greolieres together with the Centre for Cross-country ski, the Conseil General, and the Footpaths Federation, has created a compulsory winter diversion of the G R 4.
Such a diversion concerns the part of the trail between the waymark 196 to the north, and the plain of Coutellade to the south.
This makes it easy to cross the resort of Greolieres les Neiges from north to south, and to enjoy a superb view all the way along this 1.6 km, which is makred with high-visibility orange ribbons. This means that you will not come up against other users (alpine skiers, surfers, cross-country skiers) while enjoying just as pleasant surroundings as those offered by the summer route.

We thank you for your understanding.
